Now the world’s most popular music genre, hip-hop is an emotional tool for brands to effectively address modern target groups. In the course of the OMR Festival in Hamburg, we initiated and curated a panel discussion about rappers as pop-cultural impulse generators for brands and advertising. German rap veteran Falk Schacht, Florian Reichelsdorfer (Adidas), Max Lederer (JvM) and Patrick Thiede (Das Maschine/Walk This Way Records) discuss how to be perceived as authentic in an extremely sensitive environment, what dangers lurk in doing so and what opportunities present themselves.
